Principal Design Features A very high purity nickel, 99.95% nickel, containing only traces of minor elements often considered deleterious.

Applications Resistance thermometers, electronic cathodes or anodes, fluorescent light components.

Machinability May be machined by conventional means, although the alloy is soft and "gummy". High-speed-steel tooling with very positive rake angle is recommended.

Forming Easily formed by conventional means.

Welding May be welded by conventional means. Note that the good thermal conductivity of this material means that welding heat will dissipate from the immediate weld area.

Heat Treatment May be annealed from the cold worked state at 1500 F and air cooled.

Forging The alloy may be forged at temperatures of 1900 F to 1300 F.

Hot Working Hot working may be done in the range of 1800 F to 1300 F.

Cold Working The material has excellent ductility and may be readily cold formed by conventional means. Severe cold working will cause hardening and it may be necessary to anneal a cold worked product.

Annealing Anneal at 1500 F and air cool.

Hardening Hardens due to cold working only.
